According to a press release issued last week, Kilowatt Financial has secured a $200 million “debt warehouse facility” with Citi for the purpose of providing financing for residential solar power systems.
Through Kilowatt’s lending program, consumers can own their own residential solar system with no money down and with loan terms of up to 20 years at competitive interest rates. Utilizing Kilowatt’s solar loans enables consumers to lower their monthly energy payments and offers them an attractive alternative to power purchase agreements or leases.
Kilowatt Financial is a “clean energy-focused” finance company providing U.S. consumers with “affordable financing choices for residential solar systems and energy-efficient home improvements so that more people can run their homes cleanly and economically.” This newest financing vehicle continues Kilowatt’s partnership with Citi “to help meet the growing demand from consumers to make energy efficiency improvements to their homes.”
Last year, Citi provided Kilowatt Financial with $100 million to “finance energy efficiency consumer loans to fund a broad range of upgrades, including HVAC equipment, water heaters, windows, roofing and insulation.” Earlier this year, Citi announced it’s goal to lend a total of $100 billion within 10 years “to finance activities that reduce the impacts of climate change and create environmental solutions that benefit people and communities”.
“We are proud to continue our support for Kilowatt Financial on its mission to help consumers run their homes with low-cost renewable energy,” said Marshal Salant, Global Head of Alternative Energy Finance at Citi. “This transaction is a great example of Citi’s commitment to sustainable growth and to financing clean energy and energy efficiency improvement projects.”
Kilowatt Financial is dedicated to providing consumers with affordable financing for solar electricity and other energy-efficient home improvements so that more people can run their homes cleanly and economically. We strive to make the financing process easy for both homeowners and our many business partners who design, install and service this important category of consumer products.
